Camp Bridges and the Traumatic Loss Response Team

Dear Friend of FrontLine Service:  Imagine a child who has lost a parent to homicide or suicide. Imagine how she might feel: Confused, abandoned, lonely, afraid. It’s difficult to imagine that there are children in Greater Cleveland who are suffering such pain and loss. But I meet these kids every day in my role as the Program Manager of the Traumatic Loss Response Team at FrontLine Service. Now imagine being able to give these children a special day filled with hope, healing, and summer fun. Think about them spending the day with other children “just like them,” who’ve experienced a similiar trauma—in a place where they finally don’t feel so alone. This is a day that we make happen every year at Camp Bridges—FrontLine’s day-long summer camp for kids in Cleveland who are grieving a loved one killed by a violent tragedy.
Camp Bridges is scheduled for Friday, August 5. Please consider making a donation now to help make sure we can provide a special day for 50 campers.

We have heard campers describe camp as "their best day ever.” One grandma called me in tears to tell me it was the happiest she had seen her grandchildren since their mother was killed.  At camp, each child will be paired with a caring adult who has volunteered to be their “buddy” for the day as they play, hike, enjoy ice cream, and make therapeutic crafts to memorialize their lost loved one. Some of our volunteers are young adults who attended Camp Bridges as children, when they were mourning their own loved ones. They remember how much Camp Bridges meant to them and want to be sure other children have the same opportunity. One camp graduate told us he returns to camp to volunteer because "it is the only day I feel like my life matters and someone needs me.”Will you please help us make Camp Bridges a success this year? Your donation will support our Traumatic Loss Response Team, who purchases the craft supplies, ice cream, and food for our campers. .

YOU can be a buddy and a hero to the children we serve by making a donation today!

Thank you for being a donor to FrontLine Service! Together we will keep bringing hope, healing, and a brighter day to the kids and families who need us most. Sincerely,   Eileen ZattaProgram Manager of FrontLine’s Traumatic Loss Response Team
