CLEVELAND Nov. 2, 2020 — FrontLine Service, serving the county’s most vulnerable: the homeless, children affected by violence and those in crisis or contemplating suicide, has entered into a partnership with Geiger’s to provide coats for the cold, upcoming winter to children and their families.

Cleveland’s homeless, faced with diminishing funding for rental assistance, as well as the expiration of the CDC freeze on evictions in December, are approaching another cold, windy northeast Ohio winter – this time one with COVID-19.

They need warm coats; there is a particular need for coats for children.

Coats for the Homeless

FrontLine Service and Geiger’s are asking Clevelanders to donate “gently used” coats to the homeless. Coats can be dropped off at Geiger’s stores from November 4 through November 8. Everyone donating a coat will receive a $20 Geiger’s Gift Card, good on the purchase of a new coat. Donate as many coats as you wish, but only one (1) coat gift card per new coat.

Geiger’s store locations:

Geiger’s Lakewood — 14710 Detroit Ave.

  • Friday and Saturday 10-6

This is the fifth year Geiger’s and FrontLine have joined forces to help the homeless in Cuyahoga County. FRSTeam by DKS Dry Cleaning has offered to clean and sanitize the coats that are donated. Coats can be donated from November 4 through November 8, 2020.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of Geiger’s. Winter is always such a difficult time for those who are homeless, particularly this year, facing not only bad weather, but also the coronavirus pandemic. The coats that will be donated will make a difference for many children and adults in our community this winter. Or, if they prefer, people can always make a donation – every dollar helps,” FrontLine Service Executive Director Susan Neth said.

“We are most impressed with the remarkable programs FrontLine provides to our most vulnerable fellow citizens,” Geiger’s President Chas Geiger said. “We are proud to team up with them and invite our customers to make a very meaningful donation to a homeless person. Think about all those coats you have in the basement and bring them in.”
