MHS Changing to FrontLine Service
MHS, Inc. will be changing its name to FrontLine Service on July 1, 2013.
For a quarter of a century, MHS has been a quiet presence in Cleveland, serving those who struggle with homelessness, severe mental disabilities, suicidal thoughts or are traumatized by violence. The agency was created in 1988 and utilized a non-traditional approach to respond to the growing number of severely mentally disabled individuals who were homeless. MHS outreach teams went out looking for these individuals and began to engage, assess and eventually provide services to those most in need. Many of these individuals had been released from long-term care psychiatric institutions and were unable to access the supports and services they so desperately needed. We provided those services. This outreach philosophy is at the core of every program we operate today.Since then our services have dramatically increased. We provide the largest service continuum in the state of Ohio for homeless persons. In addition, numerous programs have been created to respond to individuals and families in psychiatric crisis and those who are experiencing trauma. We found that the name, Mental Health Services, limits the broad scope of services we now provide and does not showcase our innovative approach to reaching out to those in crisis. So on July 1, 2013 the agency’s mission will be carried forward under a new agency name and describer line: FrontLine Service: Reaching Out. Resolving Crisis. The name FrontLine Service points to the unique role we play in our community. We are first responders for those in crisis. We’re among the first to work to resolve the challenges they face. To better understand our approach you can view our new video “Reaching Out- Resolving Crisis.”All of our agency programs and services will fall under the FrontLine Service name. For the remainder of the year we will be branded as “FrontLine Service, formerly MHS, Inc.” to avoid confusion during this transition. Our name has changed but our mission, services and programs have not. FrontLine Service remains committed to serving the community, providing outreach to homeless individuals, responding to persons contemplating suicide and providing support to those experiencing trauma.Sincerely,Susan Neth, MS, LSWExecutive Director
