Applying Trauma-Informed Care to Your Organization
“Trauma Informed Care is a strengths-based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and a responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment” (Hopper, Bassuk, & Olivet, 2010).
This training includes a consultation to assess what challenges your organization is facing, and therefore, which aspects of Trauma Informed Care should be most emphasized in the training. We tailor the training to your needs, using SAMHSA’s Trauma Informed Care Framework as a guide. Subject matter includes the biology of the stress response, the prevalence of trauma in your target population, and recognizing potential trauma symptoms. Using research and experience, we curate specific service delivery suggestions for your organization, and offer participants the opportunity to consider how the information applies specifically to their individual roles.
